Dumb and dumber

May 8, 2008

Hill’s campaign spokesman on her proposed gas tax holiday:

“There are times a president will take a position that a group of quote-unquote experts will agree with and there are times when a president will take a position that a group of quote-unquote experts won’t agree with it,” campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson told reporters today, “Sen. Clinton believes this is the right policy.”

and Hillary supporter Senator Bob Menendez (D) defending the policy:

The money quote:

BRZEZINSKI: Just tell me one economist that supports this.

MENENDEZ: You know, thank God that we don’t have economists making necessarily public policy, because they don’t really feel the pains of average Americans.

To be fair, John McCain also prefers to ignore the advice of “quote-unquote experts” and supports this idiotic policy.
